Harriet Blum

"Climb On" by Harriet BlumHarriet Blum has lived in the New Orleans area for 39 years and has developed a recognizable style, often described as "romantic peacefulness", "ethereal" and "dreamy". She creates her art using a "tried and true" older-model Nikon camera and infrared film. She develops the film and prints the images herself, then hand-tints each original using transparent oils. Harriet is facinated by nature... trees, oceans, rocks, and the expression of human nature. She enjoys capturing the essence of a moment and seeks to compliment the moments that she encounters when she clicks the shutter.

Ms. Blum's work is featured in collections including the New Orleans Museum of Art, Roger Ogden Museum of Southern Art in New Orleans, Mobile Museum of Art, the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago, Loew's New Orleans Hotel, and Oschner Foundation Clinics. Custom prints and high quality reproductions available in sizes 5" x 7" through 30" x 48".

Gail Glassman

The Sphere by Gail GlassmanAlthough I have been painting since 1978, it wasn’t until I began my master’s degree in art therapy (1987) that I first tasted the richly potent, symbolic content contained in the imagery.

I believe the creative process mirrors the soul, therefore it is always surprising to see the completed paintings and listen to the secrets they whisper.

I paint with a full heart in a dream-like state of mind where deletions are rare and honesty is plentiful. I dance with shapes and shadows; I play with patterns of color and light; it is a celebration.

Peggy Hesse

Peggy HesseA native of New Orleans, graduate of Newcomb College and Tulane University Graduate School, I have worked most of my adult life in creative fields as interior designer, renovator, builder, and teacher. A lifetime art collector, I have recently returned to my first love of creating beautiful images through drawing and painting. The coastal areas of Louisiana and Mississippi with their atmospheric light and expressive live oaks and peaceful tidal marshes continue to inspire me today. Lately i have sought these places with an increased sense of urgency as they remain under threat from both natural disasters and manmade destruction in the name of 'progress.' I am not at all interested in hyperrealism. What I want to convey is the deep soul truth of the scene, the emotion it stirs in me, the surreal song of light dancing. I take great joy in painting from the heart and allowing each piece to evolve in the art process. I hope that my works serve to document moments that the painter Robert Henri in his book 'The Art Spirit' called "states of higher awareness." Of these moments, Henri wrote, "The pictures are a witness."

Suzanne King

A Covington, LA native, Suzanne earned a B.A. in Art from Southeastern Louisiana College in 1967. Following graduation, she joined Shell Oil Company in New Orleans where she was a graphic artist/designer there and in Houston for 24 years. Continuing her studies at evening art classes at Tulane University College in the late 1960s and early 70s, she participated in many group shows and had two successful solo exhibits at Uptown galleries. Photography, house renderings, silkscreen posters, pottery and etchings were other creative pursuits in the 1980s. During this time, she participated in numerous exhibits, both local and in southeastern states, winning several awards. After retiring from Shell in 1991, Suzanne taught art at the expatriate community school for nearly three years in Shekou, China. After traveling during the 90s and exploring numerous art forms over the ensuing years, she has returned to drawing and mixed media pieces combined with elements of graphics and whimsy, a favorite form of artistic expression.
